We are MIKE & COLLEEN FRANCISCO, and we believe everyone should know the invitation Jesus has for them to Do Life Different!
In late 2010, only one year into our marriage, we fell into the hardest season of our lives. We were living in Redwood City, California at the time, struggling to pay rent while both working multiple jobs. As the credit card balance(s) went up, Mike began failing seminary classes, and Colleen had a dental emergency that cost $10,000. After struggling for a year, we felt stuck in a rut, exhausted, and ready to give up.
In October of 2011, Mike joined a small group that changed the trajectory of our lives. The first session was about the invitation to live differently. This invitation is found in Matthew 11:28-30 and it says, “Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion?… Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”
The invitation to Do Life Different was clear and our church planting journey began.
Over the last eight years, as we have chased after Jesus in our own lives, we know that God has been preparing us to start something new. We have a vision for a church that will equip and resource others to Do Life Different.
In 2020, as COVID-19 spread, God led us to take the next (scary) step in our journey. Mike accepted a Church Planter Residency at Lakepoint Church in Muskego, Wisconsin. At the same time, we sold our house and moved to Oak Creek, the community God was clearly putting before us.
After a few short months, God had given us a clear vision for the church and what it practically looks like to Do Life Different.
- to Pray Boldly
- to Rest Intentionally
- to Live Generously
We named the church 11|28 Community, a reference to both our story and Jesus’ invitation in Matthew 11 to Do Life Different.
We are so excited to partner with you, so that we might help others Do Life Different in Oak Creek, Wisconsin.
We look forward to building 11|28 Community with you!
